Meet Dr. Akerman

Faraway Nova Scotia used to be home to Dr. Bert Akerman. That's where he studied medicine, and that's where he began the practice of medicine. His medical degree came from Dalhousie University in Halifax, and he practiced in Truro, where he was associated with Colchestar Regional Hospital.

It was in 1994 that the doctor, along with his wife and three children, made the move to Paris. Still involved in general medicine, Dr. Akerman has been treating area patients of all ages ever since.

This transplanted Canadian has put down Edgar County roots in more ways than one. Dr. Akerman is a devoted gardner who coaxes a rainbow of flowers into bloom throughout the growing season.
